Day
1: Canada / Dublin
Depart Canada for Dublin on an overnight flight.
Day
2: Dublin / Tara
Upon
arrival, we are met, assisted and transferred to accommodations
near Tara. Dinner and overnight in Tara.
Day
3: New Grange / Tara
Full
day excursion to New Grange (famous Neolithic passage tombs
dating to 3500 BC), Monasterboice (famous Celtic high crosses)
and Tara (Hill of Tara) with video and walk on the Hill of
Tara. Dinner and overnight in Tara (focus on pre-Christian
Celtic and early Irish Christianity).
Day
4: Saul / Tara
Full
day excursion to Saul (landing place of Patrick) and Down
Patrick Cathedral (Tomb of Patrick). Afternoon visit to Ancient
Armagh (Navan Fort). Dinner and overnight in Tara. (Focus
on Patrick & Irish Mythology).
Day
5: Kildare / Glendalough
Check
out for full day excursion to Kildare (St. Brigid's Cathedral)
and The Holy Well with lunch in Kildare and afternoon visit
to famous High Crosses at Castledermot and Moone. Dinner and
overnight in Glendalough (focus on St. Brigid and the Brigidine
Tradition with Holy Wells, monasteries and High Crosses).
Day
6: Glendalough
In
Glendalough visit the Heritage Center with video "Ireland
of The Monasteries" and museum. Followed by a pilgrimage
walk through the ancient Monastic City. Afternoon at leisure.
Dinner and overnight in Glendalough (focus on St. Kevin's
Monastery in Glendalough and the tradition of the pilgrimage).
Day
7: Dublin
Full day visit to Dublin, visit the Book of Kells Exhibition
at Trinity College and the Celtic artifacts in the national
museum. Free time for shopping in Dublin with optional visit
to Kilmainham Jail. Transfer to Glendalough for dinner and
overnight. In Cith focus on the illuminated Gospel manuscript,
in Dublin focus on the Book of Kells, and important Celtic
artifacts in the National Museum.
Day
8: Glendalough
Glendalough:
Visit to the Upper Lake (St. Kevin's Desert) with ancient
Celtic Monastic Ruins. Afternoon free for shopping. Dinner
and overnight in Glendalough (focus on the Hermitage of St.
Kevin and the Desert Spiritual Tradition in early Irish Monasticism).
Day
9: Dublin / Canada
Transfer
to Dublin Airport for departure and same day return to Canada.
