Day 1 – Sep. 29

Afternoon departure from Calgary to Barcelona.

Day 2 – Sep. 30

Noon arrival in Barcelona. Transfer to our hotel, some time for rest, dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Oct. 1

Full day in Barcelona. In the morning we the visit enchanting Benedictine monastery in Montserrat and the Black Madonna of Montserrat. After lunch our tour of Barcelona features the Columbus Monument, elegant tree lined “Ramblas” and Plaza de Catalonia, Paseo de Gracia, the famous church of Sagrada Familia where we celebrate Mass. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Oct. 2

After breakfast we travel to Lourdes in France. En route we visit Carcassonne (time permitting) to visit its beautifully preserved medieval fortified town with its massive defences encircling the castle. Upon arrival Mass, some free time, dinner, procession with candles and overnight.

Day 5 – Oct. 3

Full day in Lourdes. Time to visit the Grotto and the Basilicas. We will have Mass and The Way of The Cross, time for individual prayer and bath, dinner and overnight.

Day 6 – Oct. 4

After morning Mass we leave through Pyrenees to Spain and its capital of Madrid. En route we stop in Zaragoza and visit the Basilica dedicated to Our Lady Of The Pillar. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7 – Oct. 5

Morning sightseeing tour of Madrid takes us to Puerta del Sol, Plaza Espana with its monument to Cervantes, Celebes fountain, elegant Calla Alcala and Paseo Castellana. We also see the Royal Palace and the Cathedral. In the afternoon excursion to Toledo, the ancient capital of Castille. We visit the old town, Moorish bridge and the 13th century Cathedral, where we celebrate Mass. Return to Madrid for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 – Oct. 6

From Madrid we travel to university town of Salamanca. En route visit Avila, the city of St. Theresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. After Mass in Avila we depart to Salamanca. Time for pleasurable stroll through mediaeval streets of Salamanca and its splendid Plaza Mayor and university founded in 1218. Dinner and overnight.

Day 9 – Oct. 7

This morning we move to Santiago de Compostella, the burial place of St. James and major pilgrimage destination since Middle Ages. We visit the Cathedral dedicated to St. James and the Old City. Mass, dinner and overnight.

Day 10 – Oct. 8

Today we cross the border to Portugal and travel to Fatima. Upon arrival in Fatima Mass, dinner, procession with candles and overnight.

Day 11 – Oct. 9

Full day in Fatima. Mass, visit the site of apparitions, the old and the new basilica. We also visit the houses of the children, have some free time for individual prayers, dinner, procession with candles and overnight.

Day 12 – Oct. 10

After breakfast we are transferred to the airport in Lisbon for our flight back to Calgary. Evening arrival.
