Day 1 – January 16 ~ Thursday
DESTINATION ISRAEL

3:15pm Meet in the departure hall at Pearson airport Toronto, terminal 3, to check in for the EL AL flight to Tel Aviv. Leave Toronto at 9:15pm on a non-stop, direct overnight flight to Tel Aviv, meals served on board.

Day 2 – January 17 ~ Friday
WELCOME TO ISRAEL

1pm Arrive at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport, clear immigration and customs and meet with your guide. Continue to Jaffa of Jonah and the “big fish” and Tabitha fame. After a short walk through the colourful alleyways transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure. 1 night: Grand Beach hotel ~ Tel Aviv or area [Dinner]

Day 3 – January 18 ~ Saturday
GALILEE

Travel north, to visit Caesarea Maritima – built by King Herod the Great and boasting the largest port in the Mediterranean. Later the Roman capital, here Pontius Pilate had his seat; Cornelius was baptized (Acts 10); Paul embarked to Tarsus (Acts 9:30) and Philip preached (Acts 8:40). Continue north, then drive along the Jezreel Valley and View the summit of Mt Carmel, where Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:30). Stop at Megiddo, visit one of King Solomon’s fortified city kingdoms (1 Kings 9:15; 10:26), with impressive ruins of 25 levels of civilization. From here the Books of Daniel and Revelation will come alive, as you read about the final Battle at Armageddon. Proceed to Yardenit for Baptism in the Jordan River. Day 4 – January 19 ~ Sunday
GALILEE

Start the day on the Mt. of Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered “the Sermon on the Mount” (Matt.5). Continue to visit sites central to Jesus’ Ministry in the Galilee – starting at Chorazin, one of three villages Jesus prophesied over for not accepting his teaching; The Church of the Primacy of Peter in Tabgha; Kfar Nahum, Capernaum, centre of Jesus’ Ministry in the Galilee and site of many of his miracles (Mark 2:4; Matt.8:5; 14-7; 9; 1-7; 17: 18), where you see the remains of St Peter’s house and visit the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught and worshipped (Mark 1:21; Luke 4:31). Stop at Magdala, the village of Mary Magdalene, tour the new archeological discovery and the very synagogue that Mary Magdalene would have worshipped in. Sail on the Sea of Galilee, with time for meditation and prayer, then stop to visit the famous ancient fishing vessel from the time of Jesus and learn about its discovery. [Breakfast/dinner]

Day 5 – January 20 ~ Monday
GALILEE GOLAN

Drive onto the Golan Heights and stop to pay tribute to the handful of Israeli soldiers who kept the Syrian army at bay in one of the largest tank battels in the world during the 1973 Yom Kippur War, at the memorial in the Valley of Tears. View Kunietra a Syrian command post during the 6 Day war (1967). Continue to the “finger of the Galilee.” View Kalat Nimrod a fascinating fortress that for many hundreds of years guarded the route to Damascus, as you travel down the mountain to Banias. Stop to visit one of the sources of the Jordan River, site of ancient “Caesarea Philippi,” where Peter made his confession of faith in Christ (Matt. 16:16). Continue to ancient Dan, visit this fascinating site, including the Bronze age mud brick gate of Abraham’s fame (Genesis 14:14), the iron age gate and the alter Jeroboam built to worship the Golden calf. [Breakfast/dinner]

Day 6 – January 21 ~ Tuesday
ROAD TO JERUSALEM

Travel south in the lush Jordan valley, stop to visit Beit Shean, where the bodies of King Saul and his sons were placed on the walls by the Philistines (1 Samuel 31:10). Later known as Scythopolis, capital of Decapolis. Visit the impressive extensive Roman, Byzantine and Omayyad ruins. Drive down the Jordan Valley, where the desert now blooms with flowers and vegetation of every description (Isaiah 35:1-2). Stop at Qasr El Yahud, where John is said to have baptised Jesus. View Jericho, the oldest town in the world and ascend through the Judean Desert to the Holy City – Jerusalem of Gold. Stop as the Galileans did on Mt Scopus to recite a Psalm of Ascent and enjoy the first view of the Holy City. Continue to Mt Zion to visit the Upper Room (Room of the Last Super), King David’s tomb and St Peter Gallicantu, a Church built on the site of the High priest Caiaphas’s home. 3 nights: Caesar hotel ~ Jerusalem [breakfast & dinner]

Day 7 – January 22 ~ Wednesday
JERUSALEM – OLD CITY

Start the day on the Mount of Olives, with a wonderful, panoramic view of Jerusalem, old and new. Following in the footsteps of Jesus and the disciples, stroll down the Mount of Olives to the Garden of Gethsemane, at the Church of All Nations, with time for contemplation and prayer in an adjacent Olive grove. Continue across the Kidron Valley (the Valley of Jehoshaphat). Visit the Western Wall, an important place of prayer and pilgrimage for the Jewish people. Then walk back in time through the Western Wall Tunnels under the city. Stop at the Pools of Bethesda and enjoy the splendid acoustics in St. Anne’s Church. Proceed along the Stations of the Cross through the “Suk,” the colourful bazaars, alleyways and market place to visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Continue walking through the Old City to the Jewish Quarter. En route visit the Roman, Byzantine, Crusader Street called the “Cardo,” then walk down the “Upper Hill.” View the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque built on the Temple Mount. End the day at the Garden Tomb, with time for contemplation, prayer and communion. [breakfast & dinner]

Day 8 – January 23 ~ Thursday
NEW JERUSALEM

Start the day at Yad Vashem, national memorial and Museum of the Shoah (holocaust), to pay tribute to the six million Jewish victims of the Shoah in Europe, during the Second World War. Including: The Museum, the Children’s Memorial and the Avenue of the Righteous Amongst the Nations, commemorating those who at great personal risk saved Jewish souls. Continue to the Israel Museum, visit the Shrine of the Book, home of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest Bible manuscripts and the adjacent model of ancient Jerusalem, describing the city from the Second Temple Period, the time of Jesus. Visit King David’s City including; The G area, the Canaanite tunnel and the Pool of Siloam. Continue to the Southern Wall Archaeological Park to visit excavations along the South Western Wall of the Temple Mount and stand on the very same stairs that Jesus might have used entering/exiting the House of The Lord. End the day in Bethlehem, visit to include: The Church of the Nativit (the birthplace of Jesus), Shepherd’s Field and shop at a local Christian Olive Wood factory / store. [breakfast & dinner]

Day 9 – January 24 ~ Friday
DEAD SEA

Drive through the Judean desert to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth (over 1300 feet below sea level). Stop to visit Qumran, home of the Cult of the Judean Desert, where a shepherd boy discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls (1947) in a nearby cave. Visit Ein Gedi, an oasis in the desert, where David fled the wrath of King Saul. Continue south to Masada. Ascend by cable car to tour the imposing summit of King Herod the Great’s remote desert fortress, later the last stronghold of the Jewish revolt against Rome (73 AD). 2 nights: Hod hotel & spa ~ Dead Sea

Day 10 – January 25 ~ Saturday
SOUTH TO EILAT

Take an optional tour. Travel through the Arava wilderness, stop at the Vidor Centre, to learn about the Arava region, its uniquely advanced agriculture and challenges. Proceed to Kibbutz Ketura, to visit a Date Palm tree grown from a charred, 2000-year-old, Masada date palm seed. Continue south to Timna, where you visit Solomon’s pillars in the fascinating geological National Park and The Tabernacle in the Wilderness ~ an accurate replica of the biblical tabernacle (Exodus). Cost per person $125, minimum 35 participants. Day 11 – January 26 ~ Sunday
CANADA

Transfer to Ben Gurion airport for your return flight to Canada. Leave Tel Aviv at 11am on the non-stop, direct EL AL flight to Toronto. arriving at 4:15pm. Meals served on board.
