10:15am Arrive at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport, clear immigration and customs and meet with your guide. Travel in a luxurious air-conditioned bus to Naot Kedumim, the famous Biblical Botanical Gardens, which embodies the panorama and power of the land, the nature of which fashioned Judaism, early Christianity and early Islam, Then visit Jaffa (Joppa), where Peter stayed with Simon the Tanner (Acts 9:43, 10:9-23). See the harbor on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, where Jonah boarded a ship to run away from God (Jonah 1:1). Travel along the coastal road en route to the beach side hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure.
1 night: Ramada hotel ~ Hadera [Dinner]
CAESAREA, MEGIDDO, GALILEE
Drive north along the Mediterranean Coast to Caesarea, where Paul defended himself before Festus and King Agrippa (Acts 25:6-26:32), and Cornelius, was baptized by Peter (Acts 10:1-48). Continue north to Mt Carmel where Elijah confronted the false prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:1-46). Travel to Megiddo, the fortress city of King Solomon (1 Kings 9:15; 10:26), view the fertile plains of the Jezreel Valley, where the future Battle of Armageddon will take place (Revelation 16:12-16). Continue to Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. Stop on Mount Precipice, the cliff where Jesus was about to be thrown down by the hostile people of Nazareth (Luke 4:14-30). Then visit Nazareth Village, which portrays what village life was like in the time of Jesus. Continue to Tiberias, situated on the Sea of Galilee (John 6:22-24).
3 nights: Leonardo ~ Sea of Galilee [Breakfast/dinner]
SEA OF GALILEE
Begin the day sailing across the Sea of Galilee. Then stop to see the 2000-year-old “Ancient Boat” discovered in 1986, now in the Museum at Kibbutz Gennesareth. Drive to Magdala, the village of Mary Magdalene and see the archeological discovery of the actual synagogue that Mary would have worshipped in (Luke 8:1-3). Continue to the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). Stop to visit the site where Jesus served breakfast to His disciples after His Resurrection (John 21:1-23). Travel to Capernaum, where Jesus chose to center His ministry, and site of many of His miracles (Luke 4:16-32). See the remains of St Peter’s mother in laws house and the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught and worshipped. Visit Kursi, where Jesus cast out the demons from the Demoniac of Gadara and into the pigs. (Mark 5:1-20) End the day with a baptism in the Jordan River.
Stop on Mount Arbel to view the beauty of Galilee. Continue north to visit Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus asked the disciples, “Who do men say I am?” (Matthew 16:13-20). Proceed to Dan to visit the ancient biblical site where Jeroboam set up his altar (1 Kings 12:25-30) and view the 4000-year-old mud brick gate that Abraham went through (Genesis 14:14). Stop at Hazor, “the head of all kingdoms” to visit this fascinating site, with ancient foundation stones that still show the effects of having been burned during Joshua’s destruction of the city. (Joshua 11: 10-11).
JORDAN VALLEY, DEAD SEA
Begin the day travelling to visit Gideon’s Spring, where Gideon selected the 300 men who would join him in fighting the Midianites (Judges 7:1-7). From there, travel to Beth Shan, the largest archaeological park in Israel, where the Philistines fastened the bodies of King Saul and his sons on the city walls (1 Samuel 31:10). Enjoy a scenic drive down the Jordan Valley through the desert, which now blooms with flowers and vegetation of every description (Isaiah 35:1-2). Stop at Qasr El Yahud, where John is said to have baptized Jesus. (Matthew 3:13-17) Continue south to Masada. Ascend by cable car to tour the imposing summit of King Herod the Great’s remote desert fortress, later the last stronghold of the Jewish revolt against Rome (73 AD).
2 nights: Leonardo Plaza hotel & spa ~ Dead Sea [Breakfast/dinner]
DEAD SEA, AT LEISURE, OR OPTIONAL TABERNACLE TOUR
Make your choice: Either spend a day at leisure at the Leonardo Plaza hotel & spa, enjoying the spa facilities and float in the Dead Sea, you cannot Sink! Or take an optional tour to travel south to Timnah, and visit the Tabernacle in the Wilderness ~ an accurate replica of the Biblical tabernacle (Exodus 25-40). Cost per person $149 based on 30 participants. Time permitting, proceed to Kibbutz Keturah, to visit a Date Palm tree grown from a 2000-year-old, Masada date palm seed. Return to the hotel in the afternoon, to enjoy the spa facilities and float in the Dead Sea, you cannot Sink!
Travel north along the Dead Sea shoreline stop to visit Ein Gedi, an oasis in the desert, where David fled from King Saul (1 Samuel 23:29) and see the waterfall there. Ascend through the Judean Desert to Genesis Land where you will take a camel ride 4000 years back in history to visit with Abraham. Continue to Jerusalem of Gold. Stop on Mt Scopus overlooking the city and recite a Psalm of Ascent as would ancient pilgrims as they came into the city. Continue to Yad Vashem, Museum of the Shoah (Holocaust), to pay tribute to the victims of the Shoah in Europe during World War 2, including 6 million Jewish people.
4 Nights: Caesar hotel ~ Jerusalem [Breakfast/dinner]
Begin the day on the Mt of Olives (Acts 1:9-12) with a wonderful view of Jerusalem. Following the route of Jesus’ on Palm Sunday (Luke 19:28-40), walk down to Dominus Flevit, a church which commemorates the site where Jesus wept over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41-44). Continue down the mountain to spend some time in an olive grove at Gethsemane, where Jesus spent the night in prayer and was betrayed by Judas. (Matthew 26:36-46). Explore the fascinating ongoing excavations in the City of David (2 Samuel 5:6-10). Walk in the water through Hezekiah’s Tunnel (2 Kings 20:20) to the Pool of Siloam (John 9:1-11). Enter the Old City, visit the Southern Wall Archaeological Park where you will stand on the very same steps that Jesus walked on, when he went in and out of the Temple.
Drive to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd’s Field. Stop to visit Pastor Naim Khoury the pastor of the First Baptist Church, the only evangelical church in Bethlehem. An opportunity is provided to do some shopping at one of the Bethlehem with stores where they also have a wood carving factory. Return to Jerusalem to Mt Zion to visit King David’s Tomb (Acts 2:29) and the Upper Room where Jesus had His final Passover with His disciples (Luke 22:7-38). Then stop at the House of the High Priest Caiaphas at St. Peter in Gallicantu Church, where Jesus was tried by the Sanhedrin and imprisoned for a night (Matthew 26:57-75, John 18:12-14). Continue to the Israel Museum to visit the Model of the city of Jerusalem from the first century and the “Shrine of the Book”, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed.
FINAL DAY IN JERUSALEM
This day, we will not be accompanied by our guide, as it is a “Free day”. So Pastor Henry will take the leadership on this day and we will begin the day by taking the Light Rail to visit Golgotha and the Garden Tomb, where many scholars believe Jesus was crucified (Luke 23:26-49) and rose again (Luke 24:1-12). We will conclude our time there with a celebration of the Lord’s Supper (Luke 23:50-24:12). Enter the Old City through Lion’s Gate to the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus healed the lame man (John 5:1-9) and sing in the adjacent St. Anne’s Church, with its incredible acoustics. Walk the Via Dolorosa enjoy lunch and shopping in the markets. After lunch, visit the Western Wall and walk through the Old City to the Cardo (Main Street from 2000 years ago), see the Broad Wall built by Hezekiah (Isaiah 22:9-11, Nehemiah 3:8).Conclude the day with a visit to the Temple Mt Institute where preparations for the Third Temple are being made. Enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel.
RETURN TO CANADA
Transfer to Ben Gurion airport for your return flight to Canada. Leave Tel Aviv at 11:55am on the non-stop, direct Air Canada flight AC81 to Toronto, arriving at 5pm.
