DAY 2 - Friday
Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport at 2:00pm and meet your guide. Travel to ancient Jafa/Joppa of Jonah and the whale (Jonah 1) and Tabitha fame (Acts 9:36-42) and view Andromeda’s rock in the ancient port as you walk through the colourful alleyways of this ancient port city. Travel through Tel Aviv the new city, The Hill of Spring then continue north along the coastal road en route to the beach side hotel. (Dinner) 1 night—Dan Panorama Hotel—Tel Aviv
THE COASTAL PLAIN TO GALILEE
Day 3 – Saturday
Travel north, along the Mediterranean shore and on the ancient route known in Biblical Times as the “Sea Route” and in Roman
times as the Via Maris, which linked Egypt and Babylon. Stop at Caesarea, the Roman capital and the largest port in the
Mediterranean, built by King Herod the Great. Here Pontius Pilate had his seat; Cornelius lived and was baptized (Acts 10);
Paul embarked to Tarsus (Acts 9:30) and Philip preached (Acts 8:40). Visit the Roman Theatre, the Hippodrome, and the
Crusader City. View the summit on Mount Carmel known as Muhraka or the “burning place” where Elijah confronted the 450
false prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:30). Drive into the Jezreel Valley to visit Megiddo, one of King Solomon’s fortified city
kingdoms (1 Kings 9:15; 10:26), with 21 impressive layers of ruins, where the books of Daniel and Revelations will come to life
as you read about Armageddon, the final Battle. Continue through the Lower galilee to Gennasereth – Ginnosar where you
view the famous ancient boat from the time of Jesus. Then following the tradition of the “fishermen” disciples, sail on the Sea
of Galilee with time for meditation and prayer. End the day at Yardenit for a Baptism ceremony in the Jordan River.

GALILEE - JEWELS OF JESUS’ MIN
Day 4 – Sunday
Start the day on Mt Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered the famous “Sermon On the Mount” (Matt.5). Travel North through the
Jordan Valley to Dan, with impressive ancient city gates from Abraham (Genesis 14:14) and King Jeroboam’s times (1 Kings
12: 26-30). Continue to Banias to visit Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus asked “Who do men say I am?” (Mat 16). Travel onto
and via the Golan Heights to the Sea of Galilee then enjoy a fish lunch. Visit sites central to Jesus’ Ministry at the Sea of Galilee,
starting at the Church of the Primacy of Peter (Tabgha). Continue to Kfar Nahum Capernaum center of Jesus’ Ministry in the
Galilee and the site of many of his miracles (Mark 2:4; Matt.8:5; 9). See the remains of St Peter’s (mother in law’s) home and
the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught and worshipped (Mark 1:21; Luke 4:31). Time permitting visit Magdala, of Mary
Magdalene fame, with new archeological discovery and the very synagogue that Mary Magdalene would have worshipped in

FROM THE GALILEE TO JERUSALEM
Day 5 – Monday
Travel south along the Jordan Valley to visit Beit Shean, where the bodies of King Saul and his sons were placed on the walls
by the Philistines (1 Samuel 31:10). In Jesus’ day, known as Scythopolis, capital of Decapolis. For those who are able, jog up
the ancient Tel and view the significant extent of the unique archaeological discoveries from the top. Drive through the Jordan
Valley, where the desert now blooms with flowers and vegetation of every description (Isaiah 35:1-2) en route to the Judean
desert and Jerusalem. Continue to Abraham’s tent in the Judean Desert for an unusual experience, with Biblical (tribal)
hospitality, lunch and camel rides. Ascend through the Judean Desert Wilderness to the Holy City, stop on Mount Scopus for
your first view of Jerusalem of Gold, recite a Psalm of Ascent and visit an adjacent unique 2 Temple time burial cave. For those
who would like to: end the day at Herodion, a fabulous 2000-year-old desert fortress possibly the site of King Herod the Great’s
tomb, with a wonderful view of Bethlehem and Jerusalem.

Day 6 – Tuesday
Start the day with a spectacular view of the old and new city from the Mt. of Olives. Following in the footsteps of Jesus and the
Galileans walk down the hillside on the route of Palm Sunday, with a brief stop at Dominus Flevit en route to Gethsemane. Visit
the Church of All Nations with time for reflection and prayer in the ancient Olive grove. Stop at St Peter in Gallicantu on Mt.
Zion to see the steps that Jesus might have walked on. Travel across the city to Yad Vashem – national memorial and Museum
of the Shoah (Holocaust), where you pay tribute to the victims of the Shoah in Europe during the Second World War, including
six million Jews. Proceed to the Israel Museum to visit the Shrine of the Book, home of the Dead Sea scrolls and the adjacent
Model of Ancient Jerusalem, describing the city from the Second Temple Period, the time of Jesus.

Day 7 – Wednesday
Enter the Old City through the Dung gate. Stop at the Western Wall (Kotel) an important Jewish prayer area / synagogue, then
walk back in time through the fascinating Western Wall Tunnel excavations. Continue to King David’s City visiting Hezekiah’s
(wet) or the Canaanite tunnel (dry) and the Pools of Siloam, then visit the Southern Wall Archaeological Park with impressive
excavations along the South Western and Southern walls of the Temple Mount and to stand on the very same ancient steps
that Jesus and the disciples used 2000 years ago to enter the House of God. Visit the colourful Mahane Yehuda open market
and spend the remainder of the day at leisure in this fascinating city.

Day 8 – Thursday
Enter through the Lions Gate to visit the pools of Bethsaida, where Jesus healed the paralytic man and sing in St Anne’s church.
Stroll through the Suk (market place) in the Old City stop at the Monastery of the Sisters of Zion to visit the Lithostrotos, perhaps
the very place where Jesus was tormented and disrobed by Roman soldiers. Continue to and visit the Church of the Holy
Sepulchre, where you remember Jesus’ crucifixion and death on the cross. Enjoy the archaeological windows of the Jewish
quarter, including the First Temple time Broad Wall and the Roman /Byzantine /Crusader Street called the “Cardo.” Visit the
Herodian Mansions to learn more about quality of life in Jesus’ day in the Holy City. Then stop at the Temple Mt. Institute to
see replicas of the very instruments used in worship on the Temple Mt. End the day at the Garden Tomb – remember the
resurrection, with time for worship and Holy Communion. (Breakfast & dinner)
THE JUDEAN DESERT & THE DEAD S
Day 9 – Friday
Travel through the Judean Desert then along the shore of the Dead Sea. Visit Qumran, site of the “Cult of the Judean Desert,”
or perhaps the Essenes of Jesus’ day, where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered in a nearby cave. View the oasis at Ein
Gedi where we remember David fleeing the wrath of King Saul, en route to Masada – ascend and descend by cable car to visit
the impressive ruins of King Herod’s mountaintop fortress, later the last stronghold of the Jewish revolt against Rome (73 C.E.).
Visit the southern altar, with time for reflection and prayer. End the day with a truly unique experience “float” in the Dead Sea –
you cannot sink! Return to Jerusalem. An opportunity is provided to go to the Western Wall to witness the festive reception
given “the Sabbath Bride.”

JERUSALEM AT LEISURE
Day 10 – Saturday
Spend the day at leisure in this fascinating city. Return to places of interest / visit one of the many Museums in the city (modest
fee required); or shop in the old city. Meet for debriefing. Enjoy a farewell dinner in the hotel. Transfer to Ben Gurion airport for
your flight to LA.
