Afternoon arrive in Cairo. Transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Cairo - Giza
Morning drive to Old Cairo. Visit the Hanging Church, the most famous Coptic church in Cairo- named so, as it was built by the Nile River over the Roman Gate of Babylon, Also visit St. Serguis Church to see the Crypt where the Holy Family took shelter. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will experience the Egyptian Museum which contains the world’s largest & finest collection of Egyptian antiquities representing over 5000 years of history. On to the great Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, consisting of 3 million tons of granite & 150 meters high, and the mysterious Sphinx, a colossal lion with a pharaoh’s head. Dinner & overnight.
Sinai - St. Catherine - Taba
Morning we depart to Sinai, the land bridge between Asia and Africa and Civilizations of the ancient world. Lunch en-route. On to St. Catherine, at the foot of Mount Sinai, to visit the Greek Orthodox Monastery dating back to the 4th Century. Continue to Taba, on the Red Sea for dinner & overnight.
Taba - Aqaba
Morning cross the border at Taba between Egypt and Israel, and then continue to Arava border to cross to Jordan. Continue to Aqaba for dinner and overnight.
In the morning we travel to Wadi Rum, one of the world’s outstanding desert landscapes to observe local life and Bedouin culture. This is where the movie “Lawrence of Arabia” was made in 1962. We have a traditional Bedouin lunch in one of their tents. Dinner and overnight.
All day sightseeing tour of magnificent Petra, one of the wonders of the world. A visit to this ancient Nabatean city carved out of red rose rock includes The Treasury, Monastery and Theatre. Departing Petra, we travel northward on the king’s Highway to Amman, for dinner and overnight.
Madaba - Mt Nebo - Nazareth
This morning we depart to visit other treasures of Jordan. We visit Madaba, best known for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics and stop at Mt. Nebo where Moses saw the Promised Land for the first time. Late afternoon we cross the Jordan River and Allenby bridge to Israel, visit Qasr El Yahud, the place where Jesus was baptized. Continue to Nazareth for dinner and overnight.
Tiberias - Magdala - Cana
Morning excursion to Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee. Cruise to Capernaum to see the ruins of the Synagogue where Jesus preached and the House of Peter. On to the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount. Continue to Magdala, Tabgha and its ancient Church of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes and Church of Primacy. In the afternoon visit to Cana, the traditional site of the wedding feast and Christ’s first Miracle. Return to hotel for dinner & overnight.
Mount Tabor - Nazareth
Morning we ascend Mount Tabor – the Mount of the Transfiguration. In the afternoon we move on to Nazareth where we celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the Annunciation and we visit Mary's Well and St. Joseph's Carpentry Shop. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Haifa - Mt Carmel - Cesarea
Today we depart for Bethlehem. En route we visit Haifa and Mt. Carmel, the “burning place” where Elijah called fire down to confound the prophets of Baal. Here we celebrate Mass. We continue via Cesarea, the ancient Roman Capital by the sea, on to Ein Karem, birthplace of St. John the Baptist.
Mount of Olives - Bethlehem
In the morning visit the Church of the Ascension on the Mount of Olives and move on to the Church of Pater Noster and the Garden of Gethsemane. We continue our visit of Jerusalem's Mount Zion with the Upper Room (Room of the Last Supper) and the Church of St. Peter's in Gallicantu. In the afternoon, we visit Bethlehem: the Church of the Nativity, the Milk Grotto and the Shepherds Field
Today's journey takes us to the ancient city of Jerusalem: St. Ann's Church, Pool of Bethesda, Pilate's Judgment Hall, the Chapel of the Flagellation and the Arch of Ecce Homo, the convent of the sisters of Zion. We continue with the Stations of the Cross – Via Dolorosa to the Holy Sepulchre. Mass will be celebrated in one of the many churches of Jerusalem. In the afternoon we visit the Western Wall, also called the “Wailing Wall”. We see the place of the Mosque of Omar and El Aksa.
Masada- Dead Sea - Qumran
This morning we leave for a full day excursion to Masada, the Dead Sea, Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947, and Jericho. Time for swimming before our return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Return to Canada
Today our fascinating tour come to an end. Transfer to Tel Aviv airport for return flight to Toronto
