Leave Toronto by air, with connection to Cairo, capital of Egypt and land of Pharaohs
Afternoon arrive in Cairo. Transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight.
This morning, start your tour to visit the famous Egyptian Museum. Visit the Old Cairo, St. Serguis Coptic Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue. Continue to visit One of the Seven Wonders of the world, the Pyramids of Giza. Your tour ends with a visit of the majestic Sphinx.
Zeitoun Coptic Church
Morning visit Zeitoun Coptic Church, St. Simon the Tanner Monastery (Cave Church) in El Mokkatm and Coptic Orthodox Church of Virgin Mary – The Floating Bible in Maadi. Mass in one of the Churches.
Sinai Peninsula - Mount Sinai
In the morning we depart to Sinai Peninsula, the land bridge between Asia and Africa, a cradle of civilizations of the ancient world. On to St. Catherine, at the foot of Mount Sinai. Transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Climb up Mount Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments to view an amazing sunrise. After descending, visit the Greek Orthodox Monastery of St. Catherine, dating back to the 4th Century. Continue to Taba, on the Red Sea for dinner & overnight.
Morning embarks the ferry to Aqaba. Continue to hotel for dinner and overnight.
In the morning we travel to Wadi Rum, one of the world’s outstanding desert landscapes to observe local life and Bedouin culture. This is where the movie “Lawrence of Arabia” was made in 1962. We have a traditional Bedouin lunch in one of their tents. Dinner and overnight.
All day sightseeing tour of magnificent Petra, one of the wonders of the world. A visit to this ancient Nabatean city carved out of red rose rock includes The Treasury, Monastery and Theatre. Departing Petra, we travel northward on the king’s Highway to Amman, for dinner and overnight.
Madaba - Jordan River
This morning we depart to visit other treasures of Jordan. We visit Madaba, best known for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics and stop at Mt. Nebo where Moses saw the Promised Land for the first time. Late afternoon we cross the Jordan River and Allenby bridge to Israel, visit Qasr El Yahud, the place where Jesus was baptized. Continue to Nazareth for dinner and overnight.
Tiberias - Cana
Morning excursion to Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee. Cruise to Capernaum to see the ruins of the Synagogue where Jesus preached and the House of Peter. On to the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount. Continue to Magdala, Tabgha and its ancient Church of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes and Church of Primacy. In the afternoon visit to Cana, the traditional site of the wedding feast and Christ’s first Miracle. Return to hotel for dinner & overnight.
Morning, we ascend Mount Tabor – the Mount of the Transfiguration. In the afternoon we move on to Nazareth where we celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the Annunciation, and we visit Mary's Well and St. Joseph's Carpentry Shop. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Today we depart for Bethlehem. En route we visit Haifa and Mt. Carmel, the “burning place” where Elijah called fire down to confound the prophets of Baal. Here we celebrate Mass. We continue via Cesarea, the ancient Roman Capital by the sea, on to Ein Karem, birthplace of St. John the Baptist.
In the morning visit the Church of the Ascension and Chapel of Ascension on the Mount of Olives and move on to the Church of Pater Noster and the Garden of Gethsemane. We continue our visit of Jerusalem's Mount Zion with the Upper Room (Room of the Last Supper) and the Church of St. Peter's in Gallicantu. In the afternoon, we visit Bethlehem: the Church of the Nativity, the Milk Grotto and the Shepherds Field
Today's journey takes us to the ancient city of Jerusalem: St. Ann's Church, Pool of Bethesda, Pilate's Judgment Hall, the Chapel of the Flagellation and the Arch of Ecce Homo, the convent of the sisters of Zion. We continue with the Stations of the Cross – Via Dolorosa to the Holy Sepulchre. Mass will be celebrated in one of the many churches of Jerusalem. In the afternoon we visit the Western Wall, also called the “Wailing Wall”. We see the place of the Mosque of Omar and El Aksa.
Early morning Mass in Holy Sepulchre. We leave for a full day excursion to Jericho including Mt. of Temptation (with a cable car), Jericho, Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947, and the Dead Sea. Time for swimming before our return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Depart to Canada
Today our fascinating tour came to an end. Transfer to Tel Aviv airport for return flight to Toronto.
