Judean Wilderness / Jordan Riv
Our day begins with a visit to the Herodium, one of Herod the Great’s impressive palaces, overlooking Bethlehem. From there, we will travel to Jesus’ baptism site at the Jordan River. Then, we take a spectacular hike through the Wadi Qelt of the Judean wilderness as we reflect on the temptation of Christ. Breakfast and dinner are at the hotel.
Our sites this day will include a visit to the Temple Mount, where Jesus confronted the money changers, and a time of prayerful reflection at the Western Wall. We will also see the Pool of Bethesda, the City of David, and have the opportunity to walk through the marvel that is Hezekiah’s Tunnel. Breakfast and dinner are at the hotel.
Nazareth / Tiberias
After breakfast, we will check out of our Jerusalem hotel and travel north to Galilee. Before checking into our hotel in Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee, where we will have dinner, we will make a stop at Sepphoris. This ancient city is a possible location where Jesus and Joseph might have worked as carpenters. A favorite stop for all tour participants is Nazareth Village, where you will get to experience what life might have been like in this first century Nazareth. Our time in Nazareth will conclude with a hike up to the Nazareth Precipice, where the angry mob wanted to throw Jesus over.
We will visit Jesus’ base for ministry, Capernaum, as well as Bethsaida, where He fed the 5000. We’ll also visit the Mount of Beattitudes, where Jesus gave His Sermon on the Mount, and the Church of the Primacy, where we reflect on Jesus’ reinstatement of Peter. Breakfast and dinner will be at our hotel in Tiberias.
Our day begins with a visit to the Jesus Boat exhibit that houses a first century fishing boat. We’ll take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee as we reflect on the disciples miraculous experiences with Jesus on these waters. Our day continues with a visit to Kursi, the site of Jesus’ encounter with the demoniac and the herd of pigs, before we conclude with a stop at Magdala, the home of Mary Magdalene. Breakfast and dinner will be at our hotel.
Galilee / Dan
We journey up to Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus proclaimed, “Upon this rock, I will build my church!” We’ll also visit the ancient ruins of Dan before hiking up Mount Arbel, the possible location for the giving of the Great Commission, with spectacular views of all of Galilee. Breakfast and dinner will be at our hotel in Tiberias.
Galilee / Jericho / Jerusalem
After breakfast, we will check out of our hotel in Tiberias and begin the journey back to Jerusalem. Along the way, we’ll see the ancient ruins of Beth Shean, one of the ten cities of the Decapolis. Then we’ll continue down to Jericho, where Jesus encountered Zacchaeus on His way to Jerusalem. Before getting back to our hotel for dinner in Jerusalem, we’ll stop at the Dead Sea for the once in a lifetime experience of a Dead Sea float.
We enter the final stage of Jesus’ earthly ministry, the events of Passion Week. We’ll visit the Upper Room, site of the Last Supper, and the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed before going to the cross. We’ll see Caiaphas’ House, where Jesus was tried, and journey the Via Dolarosa as we visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the traditional site of the crucifixion and resurrection. Breakfast and lunch will be at our Jerusalem hotel.
Our Tour concludes with a visit to the Garden Tomb, where we will celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior with a special time of communion. After spending time again on the Mount of Olives, where Jesus ascended back to the Father, we will visit the Southern Steps of the Temple, where Peter likely preached at Pentecost and the church was birthed.
