Day 1 – May 29, 2018
Afternoon departure from Halifax via Toronto and Amsterdam to Zurich in Switzerland.
Day 2 – May 30, 2018
Noon arrival in Zurich. Transfer to our hotel in Einsiedeln, time for rest, Mass, dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – May 31, 2018
Morning visit to the mediaeval Shrine of Our Lady of Hermits in Einsiedeln. Later on an excursion to Lucerne where our sightseeing tour takes us to Lion Monument by B. Thorvaldsen, the Cathedral of St. Leodegar and the Kapellbrucke, old bridge originally built in 1333. Afternoon Mass, some free time for shopping before returning to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – June 1, 2018
Today we travel to Gurtweil in Germany, birthplace of Fr. Francis Jordan, founder of the Salvatorians. Continue to Birnau where we visit the basilica, a masterpiece of Rococo style. Dinner and overnight in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance.
Day 5 – June 2, 2018
This morning we travel to Salzburg in Austria. En route we visit Neuschwanstein to see the fairy-tale castle of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Upon arrival in Salzburg Mass, dinner and overnight.
Day 6 – June 3, 2018
Our morning tour of Salzburg, the city of “The Sound of Music” includes views of the Residence, the Carillon, the Cathedral, the Franciscan Church, Mozart Square. After Mass we travel to Prague, the capital of Czechia. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7 – June 4, 2018
Full day in beautiful Prague. We celebrate Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Victory and see the renowned statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague. We visit the Old Town by the way of Golden Lane and then go to the Lesser Town to see the medieval Charles Bridge. We also see St. Nikolas Church, the Astronomic Clock and the Castle District where we tour St. Vitus Cathedral, St. George’s Basilica and Wenceslas Square. Some free time in the afternoon for leisure. Dinner and overnight in Prague.
Day 8 – June 5, 2018
Today we travel to Wroclaw in Poland. Upon arrival our tour will take us to the gothic Cathedral, the Market Square, lined with elegant townhouses and featuring a modern fountain and gothic Old Town Hall with its large astronomical clock. Mass, dinner and overnight.
Day 9 – June 6, 2018
After breakfast we travel to Trzebnica where we visit magnificent Cistercian monastery and sanctuary of St. Jadwiga. Continue to Salvatorian seminary in Bagno. Late afternoon return to Wroclaw for dinner and overnight.
Day 10 – June 7, 2018
This morning we travel to Zakopane, Poland’s “winter capital”. En route we stop in Czestochowa – the site of Poland’s greatest shrine – Our Lady of Czestochowa, also known as the “Black Madonna”. We celebrate Mass and venerate the priceless and miraculous icon. Continue to Zakopane for dinner and overnight.
Day 11 – June 8, 2018
Zakopane is a lively resort and the best-known mountainous town located in a valley surrounded by the impressive Tatra mountains and the tiny hillside village. Our tour of the resort includes walk along famous Krupowki Street and old part of the town with wooden houses in Zakopane’s architecture style, funicular train ride to Gubalowka Hill to admire the panorama of Tatras, visit Wooden Church and Old Cemetery. Afternoon time for shopping at local flea market, Mass, dinner and overnight.
Day 12 – June 9, 2018
This morning we depart for Krakow. En route we embark on a raft ridedown a mountain river on a wooden boat through breathtaking Dunajec River Gorge and Pieniny Mountains. Continue to Wieliczka where we visit the world-famous salt mines. Dinner and overnight in Krakow.
Day 13 – June 10, 2018
This morning we visit the Market Square where we hear the silver trumpet of the bugler form the tower of St. Mary’s Church. Buildings around the square and in the Old Town include marvels such as the Town Hall Tower, the Cloth Hall and most of all the Wawel Royal Castle and the cathedral. We visit Lagiewniki – world known as “Divine Mercy Shrine”. This is where St. Faustyna had had numerous visions of Christ, who told her to keep a diary of their encounters, during which he spoke to her of the Divine Mercy. We celebrate Mass at the sanctuary and visit the convent of St. Faustyna, her tomb and relics. Dinner and overnight.
Day 14 – June 11, 2018
Today we visit Wadowice, the birthplace of St. John Paul II, where we celebrate Mass. Afternoon return to Krakow, some free time, dinner and overnight in Krakow.
Day 15 – June 12, 2018
Early morning we are transferred to the airport for a flight via Amsterdam and Toronto to Halifax. Afternoon arrival.
