Evening departure from Toronto to Budapest.
Day 2 – Apr 15, 2018
Morning arrival in Budapest. Transfer to our hotel, some time for rest, dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – Apr 16, 2018
Our sightseeing tour of Budapest starts with a view of the 13th century St. Matthias Cathedral, the Citadel on Mt. Gellert, the Royal Castle, the Parliament, Hero’s Square and the St. Stephen Basilica. In the afternoon we depart for Vienna, the capital of Austria. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – Apr 17, 2018
After breakfast our tour of Vienna takes us to St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Old City, The Augustiner Church, former church of Habsburg family, magnificent St. Charles Boromeo and St. Michael churches. Afternoon excursion to Heiligenkreuz, mediaeval Cistercian monastery. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. In the evening an optional concert.
Day 5 – Apr 18, 2018
In the morning we travel to Melk and visit splendid Benedictine monastery. After lunch we move to Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, the “Golden City”.
Day 6 – Apr 19, 2018
Full day in magnificent Prague. We celebrate Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Victory and see the renowned statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague. We visit the Old Town by the way of Golden Lane and then go to the Lesser Town to see the medieval Charles Bridge. We also see St. Nikolas Church, the Astronomic Clock and the Castle District where we tour St. Vitus Cathedral, St. George’s Basilica and Wenceslas Square. Some free time in the afternoon for shopping and rest. Dinner and overnight in Prague.
Day 7 – Apr 20, 2018
Early morning we depart Prague on our way to Poland. En route stop in Wadowice, where St. John Paul II was born in 1920. We celebrate Mass here. Upon arrival in Krakow time for rest, dinner and overnight.
Day 8 – Apr 21, 2018
Krakow was an ancient capital of Poland and remains its cultural and spiritual centre. We visit the Market Square where we hear the silver trumpet of the bugler from the tower of St. Mary’s Church. Buildings around the square and in the Old Town include marvels such as the Town Hall Tower, the Cloth Hall and most of all the Wawel Royal Castle and the cathedral. Continue to Lagiewniki – world known as “Divine Mercy Shrine”. This is where St. Faustina had had numerous visions of Christ, who told her to keep a diary of their encounters, during which he spoke to her of the Divine Mercy. We celebrate Mass at the sanctuary and visit the convent of St. Faustyna, her tomb and relics. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight
Day 9 – Apr 22, 2018
This morning we visit the world-famous salt mines in Wieliczka. In the afternoon we travel to Auschwitz, the notorious Nazi concentration camp. We visit a cell in which St. Maximilian Kolbe died and also the Martyrdom Museum recalling the horrors of the Holocaust. Return to Krakow for dinner and overnight.
Day 10 – Apr 23, 2018
After breakfast we depart for Czestochowa – the site of Poland’s greatest shrine – Our Lady of Czestochowa, also known as the “Black Madonna”. We celebrate Mass and venerate the priceless and miraculous icon. In the afternoon we travel to Warsaw, capital of Poland. Some free time for last minute shopping. Dinner and overnight.
Day 11 – Apr 24, 2018
After morning Mass in St. Faustyna church (based on availability) we embark on a sightseeing tour of Warsaw that includes St. Stanislas Kostka church, commemorating martyrdom of Bl. Jerzy Popieluszko, the Old Town, the Royal Palace and Barbican. Afternoon some free time for last minute shopping.
Day 12 – Apr 25, 2018
After breakfast we are transferred to the airport for a flight to Toronto via Frankfurt. Evening arrival. .
